Daily Math homework. :)
Over the next few weeks, your child will learn a variety of strategies to solve division problems using decimals. The relationship between multiplication and division was introduced and will be further developed. You child will also explain their thinking as they solve problems to consolidate their understanding of the concepts taught. To reinforce the concepts your child is learning at school, you and your child can work on some at-home activities:
-Review multiplication and division facts to 9X9 with your child with verbal games and cards.
-Have your child recall fact families

Confidence and Persistence booklet to complete at home.
As part of our character education program, we are working on a unit about confidence and persistence. Through doing this unit, we hope children will learn that if they try their best and stick with it, they can be successful; be willing to try new things; understand that mistakes are part of the learning and growing; and feel proud of their accomplishments.

FSA (Fondation Skills Assessment) Test Practice at home
Yukon FSA 2015
Information for Students, Parents and Guardians Questions and Answers
1. Question: What are the Yukon FSAs?
Answer: A set of B.C./Yukon curriculum-based assessments in reading, writing and numeracy for Grades 4 and 7. These assessments measure important foundation skills that students have gained over several school years, not just in a single year.
2. Question: When will these assessments take place?
Answer: January 12 to February 20, 2015. Schools can choose what schedule is best for them during this timeline. They take approximately 4.5 hours in total, spread over 3 to 4 days.
3. Question: Why are students writing these assessments?
Answer: The information will provide a snapshot of what students have learned, and will be used to help provide support for students, schools and the system.
4. Question: Who takes the assessments?
Answer: All grade 4 and 7 students are required to take the Yukon FSAs. Any exemptions must be pre-approved by Yukon Education following discussion with the principal and a review of the required documented evidence.
5. Question: What about students with special needs?
Answer: Many students with special needs are able to write the assessments. They may need more time, someone to read the questions or a scribe to write the answers. Some students with special needs may be exempted from all or part of the assessments. Schools will receive guidelines to identify these students.
6. Question: What about ELL students?
Answer: Most ELL students will take part in the assessments. A few - those who have not yet developed English Language Proficiency, will not take part.
7. Question: What about Francophone and French immersion students?
Answer: Francophone students will receive French versions of the Yukon FSAs and will respond in French. French Immersion students will receive English versions and respond in English.
8. Question: What type of assessments are they?
Answer: The reading and numeracy assessments consist of multiple-choice questions and written answers. The writing section has two writing tasks - one short answer and one long answer.
9. Question: How are the Yukon FSAs scored?
Answer: The online multiple choice sections will be cored in B.C., but the written sections will be scored in Whitehorse by Yukon teachers.
10. Question: How do we know the scoring is fair, accurate and consistent?
Answer: Training and scoring information are available on the Ministry website. During the scoring sessions, trained scorers follow set guidelines and use provincial scoring guides and examples of student work. Yukon schools will send a selection of samples to the B.C. Ministry of Education for re-scoring. A team of Yukon teachers will participate in a scoring session in B.C. to ensure common understanding and thus reliability of scoring across jurisdictions.
11. Question: What will be done with the results?
Answer: Individual student results will be available in April- there is a short turnaround between taking the assessments and getting the results. Individual student results will be sent to parents by the school. School summary reports will be available in May. Schools use this information for their school growth planning process to help set instructional planning goals.
12. Question: Do the scores count towards students’ report card marks?
Answer: The scores do not count towards student report card marks. The results supplement other information such as report cards and classroom assessment activities. The assessments guide classroom practices, Yukon Education and school growth planning.
13. Question: How can parents and teachers support students in preparing for the Yukon FSA?
Answer: It is recommended that students become familiar with the format and types of questions, time expectations, etc. Parents, teachers and students can go to the B.C. Ministry of Education: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/assessment/fsa/ FSA website to review the sample questions and responses. Students can practice these sample questions at any time, either in school with teachers and/or with parents at home.
14. Question: Who does the parent contact for further information?
Answer: Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher about any further questions or information you are looking for.

Mathématiques:
MOYENNE:
Example: 8, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 9, 11, 12, 20
MODE:
Le nombre qui apparait le plus souvent.
Example: 8, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 9, 11, 12, 20
Example: 8, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 9, 11, 12, 20
